The rain shell is made with a 3-layer fabric that offers water-tightness out the outside, breathability in the middle, and an underlying ripstop layer that also has a cotton-like handfeel. 

This upgraded rain shell can resist rain showers due to the addition of sealed seams preventing any water seeping in, while remaining breathable and allowing heat/moisture to escape from the body during active movement.
